Barney Camfield
Barney (christened Bernard Jesse Oliver) Camfield was born at Barters Farm, eight miles south of of Salisbury and retained a love of farming and country life.
After service in the Commandoes during the second world war, he was invalided out in 1945 and became involved in earning his living in films and television. Study of Psychology became his primary interest and he became well-known for his work the field of phychosomatic medicine and 'healing'.
Barney was Minister of Moretonhampstead Unitarian Church from 1967, became Westcounty Chairman of the National Federation of Spiritual Healers and founded the Moreton Healing Fellowship with branches in the South and West. He is perhaps best known for his work in 'psychoexpansion', a method of psychological self-discovery.
